Skype for BlackBerry is a great application as it was designed to offer BlackBerry users an efficient Skype IM for their devices. Such an application was expected by many BlackBerry smartphone users.
The application can be easily installed and used. If you don’t have a Skype account you can create a new one in few seconds. If you already have a Skype account from your computer installation, you can use that one. You just need to sign into your Skype Mobile app and start using it.
Adding contacts is very easy. When opening your Skype Mobile, there are six icons at the top. Your Contacts, Messages, Phone, Add a Contact, Status, and My Information. Pressing the Menu button you will see the following: Help, Skype Credit, Options, About Skype Mobile, Sign Out, and Close. You can add a contact from your BlackBerry Contacts, Search The Skype Directory, or add a number.
I was happy to find how easy it is to use along with the quality.
Skype for BlackBerry allows you to talk and IM with a contact, send text messages and make cost efficient calls.
There are some features worth to be mentioned as you can get in touch with other Skype users all over the world, calls are made and received at low cost fees, new VOIP calls feature is available, chat and send SMS messages to other Skype users who are using their PC accounts. Also the new interface look and avatar support is an important change.
Now, the 3G smartphone users with data plans can make Skype calls, use competitive calling rates to international landlines and IM other Skype users.
Calling and messaging are the main capabilities in Skype's feature set, but releasing a version for BlackBerry will automatically put Skype in front of a growing batch of Verizon's smartphone users
